A NEW ERA – A NEW PRESIDENT

The Power of Unity in Action!

Last night was a very historical moment for the WORLD! Americans in the United States of America elected the first African American President in our country’s history. Last night wasn’t just about pride for people of color although I am EXTREMEMLY proud. As a woman of color reflecting back on where my race has come from, I am in awe, excitement and encouraged even more about the healing progress we all will make together.

It wasn’t just about beating the opponent or any political argument that we are hearing recapped on the news or in the papers. This was about CHANGE the WORLD wanted. This wasn’t just an American election and ballot poll results, this was the WORLD as a dominant energy answering the call for CHANGE in general. Change for peace, Change for economic balance, Change for equality and opportunity, Change for well-being.

As I looked at the TV screen of all those countries, cities in the US and just of people hopeful and excited – You could see that they knew in their hearts and minds that this defining moment was the ushering in of the winds change. It was absolute proof of how the dominant energy took the lead. The message was loud and clear from everyone to the universe and we now see the results.

Everyone benefits from the great new beginning we all will be embarking upon. There was a point in President-Elect Obama’s acceptance speech last night that brought tears to my eyes. He told the story of Ms. Ann Nixon Cooper, the 106 year old colored woman here in Atlanta. I thought about my grandmother who died a few years back at 103 years of age and how she had witnessed so much in this country too from the eyes of an African American woman. The stories she told and the things she had witnessed. So indeed, if there is any doubt that no matter how dire things may appear we all have the power and ability to make change for the better!

I am glad for all of us, young and old, rich and poor, black, white, Hispanic, gay, straight whoever you are – we are coming together positively in a unified way. Most importantly, our children and those to come after us will definitely benefit from the changes we set positively in motions today. Remember, as human beings we all rise and fall as one.

Today, we are rising to our true nature and higher selves. And as we continue to do this the dominant energy will continue to take the lead for the better. Yes, we can and we as a people – all in the spirit of unity – definitely will.

Attachment to Things: What it Really Means to Let Go

Letting Go    We live in a world where technology helps us do things much easier and faster.  The world has literally gotten smaller – thanks to the Internet.  We can please the physical senses in a myriad of ways.  You can get things done quick fast and in a hurry – immediate gratification and satisfaction as often as you want – when you want – 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

But what about our other “sensing mechanisms” that is not hard wired to just react due to effective persuasion of our modern and popular culture (Internet, media, politics, etc.)?  I am referring to the inner spirit – the core of what and who we are.  That part of us human beings that was there before our choice of lifestyle, political affiliation, religion, and must not forget the marketing and media – our choice of Brand products and our favorite news show to deliver the entire story….Ok well most of it.

WorriedWe are becoming worried, desensitized and more easily persuaded by our everyday environments and are slowly moving away from balance through our connection with Spirit.  Somehow we have become more attached to our physical things and environment in this process.  We have come to identify who we are with what we have, who we know, what we do, and a list of other things you perhaps may not imagine.  Oh yes, I have been surprised many a day sitting on the receiving end of listening and looking into a person’s life.

Are you so attached to things in this world that it’s hard to let go of them?  What does that really mean – letting go?  I’d say it means you are not so emotionally or physically attached to something or someone to your detriment and can resume moving forward in your life.  In most cases when we become so attached to things on the flip side is developing a strong dependency and fear of losing them.  Many people have suffered losses of all kinds – we see this in our housing, employment, the wars, etc.   I too understand on that level and have experienced loss in many ways – the stories I will tell later about that.  But back to the point, one thing I know for sure is that you can’t get back yesterday and do it all over again.  All you have is the present moment that is guaranteed – that very second and each one that goes by is a wonderful opportunity to really appreciate everything and start anew.

How many of you have had moments when it didn’t look like you would last through the night but you’re still here aren’t you?  How many of you have lost your jobs, homes, loved ones and you are still kicking?  The human will is AMAZING and therefore your attachment to things that can and will fade is mute.  Ever notice how the Human Will is a direct point of reference that defines successful end-result?  No matter whether you look at it from the negative end of the equation or the positive end, the end result is still the same: Positive Energy (thoughts, actions, feelings) + Will = Positive End Result and vice versa with the negative spin.

When you are not attached to “things” you are in a state of grace – I really believe that.  I liken it to a reprieve from that fear of losing something that you have come to believe you can’t do without.  Oh yes, the things (or lies in some cases) we tell ourselves in that regard.  Whether it’s due to lack of convenience and comfort, being alone, it’s all you know, and a myriad of things we tell ourselves.

I have come to the conclusion that for every person that is conscious in thought – there is equally a unique fear that is created to sabotage efforts.   We all have both sides to ourselves –  positive and negative but we tend to lean more towards the old comfy familiar which is negative.  Why?  Because it’s easier to lose faith and believe that bad things outweighs the good.  All we have to do is not try, get knocked down enough, watch what may appear to be the “special someone’s always getting it all”, or a slew of things we tend to lean toward.  Pick an example, there are plenty of them out there and we just jump on that old negative bandwagon adding more fuel in belief to that fire.

It amazes me how we are not surprised at those negative outcomes but are shocked at the miracles that happen everyday to those who choose not to give up, learn to let go or never forget how to dream.  Letting go in the sense of attachment to things is a place of balance that if you do indeed lose something that you know it’s not really lost.  We tend to think of our loved ones in this way because they aren’t exactly physically coming back and picking up where they left off.  That is a difficult loss indeed but I don’t believe that we just cease to exist once we shed our bodies.  Not with my experiences or the phenomena I’ve seen.  I know it’s hard for some to believe that or find peace with it because they have no “physical proof”.   Would it be enough if they did?  Would some people REALLY change?  Would you not make “things” a priority if you could get back that person, that day, that year or that hour?  Ask yourself that question and in this moment you have right now – WHAT SAY YOU?
