Alternative Healing Methods to Consider for Your Wellbeing

Wellbeing should be everyone’s top priority, just like the ability to breathe is a priority to living. And since we are fresh into the new year, I wanted to stop and share with you some alternative healing options to consider to help you tighten up your wellbeing game. In-between job expectations, managing kids, and trying to get everything on our to-do lists complete; weโre all striving for one thingโwellbeing. While the broad term of โwellbeingโ can be broken down into many different forms, overall it refers to a peaceful balance of our mind, body, and spiritual self.

When weโre in a state of wellbeing, we feel strong, healthy, and at ease in who we are and where we are at in this moment of time. Depending on which areas of your life are a bit out of balance, there are different avenues to achieve a greater sense of wellbeing. Some people treat physical ailments with western medicine, while others support their spiritual lives through religious practices. However, an increasing number of people are searching for a more โin-tuneโ way to gain wellbeing, and alternative healing has opened the doors for us to explore less-invasive, out-of-the-box ways to balance every aspect our lives.

There are countless methods for alternative healing practiced todayโsome ancient and some developed in modern times. When you start exploring the world of alternative healing, these five methods are some of my favorites for supporting total-body wellbeing. Check them out:
1.) Aromatherapy (MY ABSOLUTE FAVORITE)❣️😍
In humans, the sense of smell is strongly connected to our emotional and memory centersโwhich is why smelling cookies baking in the oven can transport you right back to childhood memories of sitting in Grandmaโs kitchen! Aromatherapy works to calm the mind and spirit, by harnessing the power of essential oils through the sense of smell. Whether you diffuse the oils or rub them onto the body, their unique properties can support you both emotionally and physically.
2.) Acupressure or Acupuncture
Acupuncture is a form of traditional Chinese medicine in which needles are (painlessly) inserted into specific points along the meridians of the body. This supports the life-force energy of the person and can assist with chronic issues, acute health concerns, and general pain. Acupressure works in a very similar way but does not require the use of needles. In this practice, a practitioner will massage the meridian points on the body related to the unbalance that is present to restore wellbeing.
3.) Flower Essences
Flower essences are tinctures derived from dilutions of specific flowers and plants that all relate to unique physical or emotional ailments. There are numerous flower essences available, and choosing the right one to suit your needs depends on exactly what part of your Self you are seeking to return to a state of balance. With just a couple drops under the tongue or in a drink, flower essences can help support countless aspects of your emotional health.
4.) Reiki
A form of hands-on healing, Reiki is a gentle, powerful alternative healing practice that is becoming increasingly mainstream. In fact, you may even see Reiki practitioners at medical centers and hospitals! With the laying on of hands, the practitioner draws Universal Energy into the patientโclearing energetic blockages and restoring balance to the life-force that runs through them. Reiki can help greatly with a variety of ailments, emotional and physical, leading to increased wellbeing and greater mental clarity.
5.) Yoga
You may not think of yoga as an alternative healing method, but it definitely is! While yoga is an excellent form of exercise for strengthening the physical body, it is also a beautiful form of body movement that reconnects you with the Now and your current state of mind. Often used as a form of active meditation, yoga can help to restore mental peace, reduce stress, and wash away the anxiety of our hectic daily lives.
Wellbeing is a state of existence that many search for, but itโs not just some elusive concept that cannot be achieved! Wellbeing comes from within, and the power of alternative healing can help you bring it back to the surface of your awareness. By choosing the methods that resonate with you and where you feel unbalanced, you can achieve the peaceful state of mind-body-sprit that we all hope for.
