Dreams are often your desires waiting to manifest. Avoid these 7-bonafide dream killers, and you can clear the way to your success!
So why do most people wait to act on our dreams? There’s something to be said about fear of failure and procrastination. These two often serve as the primary reasons. Unfortunately, many folks wait until they are forced to act on their dreams or a dire situation in general. For example, a loss of some type or being in a state of utter misery has to be the catalyst.
Sometimes fears keep you from even trying. If you’ve struggled with fear and procrastination in the pursuit of your dreams, then you’re not alone. When it comes to making dreams come true, it takes pure desire, absolute trust, and consistent action to make it happen. The truth is you have to want it more than you fear not getting it.
One of the biggest problems with most people not obtaining the success due them is they give up way before they reach the finish line. We live in a Universe where there is enough for everyone. You have the capacity to make it happen for you. Here are the top reasons I’ve found to be impediments to your success:
1. Fear
You let all the possible reasons things can go wrong keep you from trying or worse, if you do at least try, you start off on a pessimistic foot. This negative foundation leads to creating a negative self-fulfilling prophecy, not everybody’s prophecy, yours. When you focus incessantly on something negative, you begin to behave and carry-out (both consciously and unconsciously) actions in a way that attracts what you fear. It’s the chicken little effect 2.0 (I call it) where can create this outcome, where your environment begins to form the support of this belief, and you sabotage your efforts. Moral of this story, don’t believe your negative hype.
2. Procrastination
It keeps you from starting and getting things done and is a dangerousย space for anyone. Failure to act can lead to all kinds of missed opportunities, relief, and solutions. Procrastination usually is rooted in some fear, lack of discipline or habit (in my opinion). Unfortunately, this can lead to you being forced to act, and when that happens, it’s usually not a good place to be. You no longer have many options, if any. You now have to deal with the current circumstances. Depending on how deep you’re in the fray, you may not have the fortitude to dig yourself out. If you can get past this and you can if you try, you have a great chance to leverage your opportunities and actions for success. Procrastination is worse than any competitor will ever be. Don’t let it become your barrier to success.

You want it all right now, and you are tired of waiting. So what do you do? You try to rush the process. Mistake! Rushing anything often causes failure and regret. There ‘s truth to that saying, “Only fools rush in.” Don’t act foolishly to only look like an idiot in the end. When you rush things, you are creating the potential for disaster; you make yourself more vulnerable and prone to a loss.
Rushing in clouds your ability to foresee your obstacles (in most cases you can see them and anticipate them if you look). There’s a reason everyone has intuition, common sense and the ability to check facts and sources. You can barge right in like a bull in a china shop if you want to and I promise you’ll be sorry. We all know what happens in that analogy – things get broken. It could cost you everything.
4. Failure to Plan
Failure to plan can be a guaranteed impediment to your success or continued success. People fail to plan for a variety of reasons such as you feel more creative doing things on the fly;ย you’ve had success with taking risks and being spontaneous in the past, or because things change so much thatย extreme flexibility is needed. All of these can apply and work for you, but they won’t always work at the same time every time.
Times change, people change, opportunities change; therefore, plans will change – guaranteed. Not having a plan, well that’s the equivalent of deliberately jumping off a cliff with no parachute. You wouldn’t want to take that type of risk for nothing, would you? No matter the dream, you need to plan and consider your life situations (finances, family, career, health or anything else that’s relevant and how these areas areย impacted.
5. Failure to Research
You don’t do your research –ย No good comes from this. There have been many people who have regretted not doing their due diligence with research. With changing times and technology, you must stay abreast of what is needed to help you succeed in today’s world. If you do your research and take into account how you can integrate your unique talents, skills, and knowledge, you have a winning chance at success. Do the work, be consistent and you will see the desired results.
6. Lack of resources
It is true that some parts of the world lack the basics that we in the US get to have and consider ordinary privileges. In these cases, it is an impediment to success. I do realize that in today’s changing political climates, economic situations and opportunities often vary across the globe.ย Thankfully, we have success stories from all over the world of individualsย who overcame severe poverty, lack of privilege and opportunity. Such people likeย Narendra ย Modi, Marina Silva, Ursula Burns, and many others that offer us hope in our day and time that dreams still do come true.
7. Lack of Capital
Some might think funding completely shuts down any chances of success. I don’t completely agree with that, but it certainly limits you and is an impediment. Nowadays, there are so many creative ways to find the capital and investors for your business needs and goals. So a lack of funding is a temporary impediment that only becomes permanent if you fail to do your research and find creative ways to get the capital.
Don’t put off tomorrow the fruitful seeds that need planting today. Your future is dependent upon what you do now, now later. So don’t put your happiness and dreams on the backburner any longer.
