Everyone’s had that moment; you know the one where we are wondering or “waiting on when or if” something will occur or how it’ll go. Doing this is a natural and common occurrence, but it has its silent pitfalls. On the one hand, it provides ample opportunity for anxiety and worries to set in. On the other, your focus can quickly shift from the outcome you want to the many possibilities of results you don’t. Remember, what you focus on becomes your future. And to learn more about what this means, check out my post about this HERE.
[bctt tweet=”If you add energy and actions that aren’t conducive and positive to your focus, you could end up with results you don’t want.” username=””]The ebb and flow of events sometimes create stress because of uncertainty and continually changing events going in one direction one moment and another direction the next — all naturally part of everyone’s energetic contribution in thought, emotions, and actions. However, everything we do doesn’t require constant attention. Some things should have a “set-it and forget-it approach.” In other words, there are times when you need to take your hands off of a situation and let things unfold organically AFTER you’ve done your part. Trying to force things, isn’t always a good thing, and hoovering over every detail and facet can wreck your nerves and peace of mind. Um, I highly recommend you DON’T do any of these. 🤦🏾♀️
So what is your part? You are responsible for:
1. Creating the vision of what you want to experience and the outcome.
2. Taking action towards your vision by doing everything in your control (research, organization, get support, gather resources, etc.).
3. Recognize and release negative attachments (fear, anxiety, doubt, situations, or people) to the successful outcome.
4. Follow-through to ensure your vision comes to fruition.
These four steps are a part of many moving parts, and parts vary per person. At the minimum, you will incorporate these towards your success. Nonetheless, there are always things to avoid. One of them is “waiting on when or if” and here’s a good reason why. If you let this become the beat of your “focus” drum, you unconsciously give away your power to ensure what you want to happen.
The most damaging part of wondering IF something will happen allows doubt and fear to take hold of your belief that it can. If this occurs, the seeds of these negative thoughts and feelings grow like weeds, choking out your garden of possibilities. And the worst-case scenario, you become a non-participant in your life, resisting to create due to past failure and pain, which allows this fear to render you immobile. And in some cases, cause you to stop trying altogether because of how long it’s taking to happen.
There are times when a person needs help with how to focus their energy and attention productively and how to release those negative fears, thoughts, or habits. And sometimes, a person just doesn’t know what to do or where to start. We all have been here, but know there is help available to support your efforts and progress. You’re the only guarantor to your success, and your success can’t happen without you. So rather than wonder and wait – envision and create a way to make your dreams come true.
